I teach and live in the same neighborhood. I've found this gives me more buy in with my students and allows us to form more of a bond. We live in a predominantly white, but poverty stricken area. Our free and reduce lunch percentage is quite high and our mobility is increasing. My students are lively 5th graders for a thirst for learning and achieving.
