The class is large and having a rug that has enough spots to accommodate all the students is essential. The spots on the carpet are used as a management tool to help the children remain on task and focused. Having their own spot gives each child ownership of their behavior. At this age of a child, he/she must be able to have an area where they feel safe and secure at all times. Over the many years of teaching, I have found that a rug that has a small boundary area, gives that security to each student. If someone crosses that line, he/she will be happy to let you know. The rug I am looking for donations to receive holds up to 35 students which is ample room for all of my class.
