My students, coming from a school district that was shut down by the state for unjust education, have faced many obstacles the average 50 year old has never faced. They come to school to learn, despite the lack of stability at home. They come from very low social economical backgrounds, are 100 percent high risk, and their parents often work two or more jobs to make sure that their children have the basic needs for school. My students have a desire to learn and grow. They are eager mathematicians and soaring scientists. They want to be good role models for their younger siblings. They work hard each and every day that they enter the doors of the school and they come to school with a positive attitude. I want to make sure that my students have the same opportuniuty to learn as their peers who are not facing the same obstacles as them.

About my class
