Research shows that young children learn best from concrete experiences. When children are given the opportunities to engage in water play they are doing more than just splashing. They are experimenting with math concepts such as more and less. They are developing science concepts such as warm and cold. As they pour and squirt not only are they developing fine motor skills they are also developing problem solving skills. These problem solving skills help shape these young minds to be critical thinkers. Without the necessary supplies, the children in my class may miss out on these valuable hands experiences which help to lay the foundation for academic success. The water table that I selected will provide the children one of a kind exploration. The water tools will provide the children with an opportunity to delevlop their fine motor skills along with problem solving, inquiry skills, and science concepts. The building blocks will allow children to explore STEAM concepts while staying safe with the splash mat.
