I teach at a school where we have a rigorous curriculum and high expectations for all of our students. In addition, we expect our students to master two languages. Our students are constantly working hard and delving into rigorous assignments. As a third grade teacher I strive to make learning fun and engaging for my students. For instance, we practice meditation in order to help us be more aware of our bodies and also as a way to practice mindfulness. I recently learned about the benefits of a flexible classroom environment and would love to provide my students with the opportunity to further their learning through fun seating. A flexible seating classroom environment will allow my students to learn while having the autonomy to select the learning option that works best for their learning needs. My students will be able to select whether they want to use yoga balls, wobble cushions, wobble chairs, or traditional chairs to support their learning. As research shows the classroom environment plays a critical role in the learning and well being of students. With your support I will be able to continue making learning a productive yet fun experience for my 3rd graders.
