With the increase in learning gaps due to the Covid-19 virus, I am preparing to equip my students with the necessary tools to fill in holes in their knowledge from experiencing distance learning and time out of school. Using math manipulatives will be both engaging and conducive to solidifying number sense. In 3rd grade, we cover a variety of topics from place value and multiplication, to fractions, time, and measurement. It is crucial that students acquire a solid foundation of their 1st and 2nd-grade skills before building on and increasing complexity in 3rd grade. I have included storage materials to keep the items neat and easily accessible for students to use on their own time. I believe that these tactile resources will reinforce their learning and allow for them to solidify number sense to be successful.
