Do you want to help to instill a lifelong love of reading and a passion for books in children?
Well, it's one of the reasons that I went into teaching!
And now two years later, I am amazed at how excited my students are when we learn about new authors or when I have new books to add to our library. You could be a part of that excitement! I teach reading to 48 bright and beautiful fourth graders in a high need area of New York City. Most of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch and are so eager to learn every day.
Unfortunately, my classroom library does not meet the needs of my very excited bookworms. I can often be found at the public library three or four nights a week, checking out extra books for my students. A leveled library is especially important in fourth grade because this is the age when children learn to read chapter books and it is necessary to have 6 copies of the same title. With this donation, my students will be ensured best practices for reading instruction and will be well on their way to reading success!
With your generous donation, my students will enjoy leveled readers that not only will engage them but will also be at their appropriate reading level, which is crucial for reading success. You will not only be helping my students this year, but for all the years and readers to come. This collection of books will become a treasured part of our classroom library. Thank you so much for your support! It is greatly appreciated!
