A kidney shaped, teacher directed table should be a place where the teacher can easily assist each student in a small group setting with skills needed. I have put two tables together to use as a teaching space for my small groups but it hasn't been an ideal set up. The students still seemed far away and I wasn't able to assist them as easily from across the table. With this "kidney" shaped table, my students would have their own space, while I will be able to reach each student with ease. This helps increase active engagement and support while students build independence.
