These materials will allow students with disabilities to stay more focused while they are in their learning environments. There are some students that need to move constantly to stay focused and there are some students that need sensory breaks often, these materials will greatly benefit all of these students. In both their general education classroom, as well as in my Resource Classroom, these flexible seating options will allow students to focus more, thus, creating a more meaningful experience for them as learners. Offering flexible seating options to students with ADHD or sensory processing disorders can offer them a more equitable place in their general education classroom. The Wobble Chairs will help my fidgety students who have difficulty staying focused and staying in their seats, as well as my students that struggle with postural stability due to weak core muscles. The Wobble Chair’s base is slightly rounded on the bottom, allowing for a gentle rocking movement. This rocking movement provides input to the student’s vestibular system, providing a sensory strategy to promote engagement and attention in the classroom. The Wobble Cushions will assist my students with ADHD because when placed on the student’s chair, the student’s postural muscles are constantly active. The ability to be active and move around while sitting will allow these students to be more attentive in class. Finally, the Fidgit Kick Bouncy Chair Bands will allow my students who need to move or fidget something to do while seated in their chairs. This keeps their hands free, allowing them to stay focused on their work in a quiet manner that doesn’t disrupt the other students around them.
