As our nation engages in a national conversation on race, we want to help educate students on human rights issues (especially children’s rights) in the US and around the world, so that students gain a better understanding of the struggles that people may face who are different from them. We will educate students on racism/antiracism and will work with West Side High School's Human Rights Club to have students come together to aid those in need. The online platforms and assignments around the human rights issues we will be tackling can and should be maintained and supported with the help of reliable online technological platforms such as Webex, Zoom, Google Meetings, and YouTube Live. The virtual and hybrid in-person experiences will enrich our students' socio-emotional learning and health and wellness, which is why we are requesting these tablets. They will be used while we connect students with other students from different areas of the US - and the world - (through Skype, Facetime, Webex, or through field trips). West Side’s Human Rights Club can be a model as they’ve connected with students in African countries this past year and conducted field trips to the United Nations center in NY.
