Stories matter. They help connect people, push people to think and builds empathy. Too often students of color and English Language Learners do not see themselves in the books and literature they read in school. I want to change that. My students deserve to see themselves and their experiences reflected in what they read. Creating a classroom library with "Books That Look Like ME!" hopefully EL students can feel validated and connect with the experiences of others that are similar to their own. Students matter and what they read matters, too. Let's provide them with reading material that matters to them.
