With the addition of another IPad in my special needs classroom, it will allow us to do small group lessons on using assistive technology for communication and writing, as opposed to one on one instruction. This will allow much more learning through modeling from both adults and peers. My students have been excited to learn to communicate using assistive technology (through word prediction and pictures) and fight over who gets to use the IPads for it at the time. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve their use of assistive technology, but you will also ultimately be helping to improve their social interaction, communication, and academic skills. With more consistent access to technology for learning purposes helps even the playing field for our students with disabilities and decreases their frustration when typical methods don't work.
