Since many of my students do not have a comfortable home to go back to after school, I want my classroom to create a sense of homeliness and comfort. Using the rug and the chairs will increase learning by not only providing flexible seating arrangements, but allow students to relax and feel safe to learn in the classroom. Using the 5 sense to create a positive learning experience is crucial. In my classroom I use air fresheners , relaxing music in the background, dim lighting, and tasty candy/ snacks to promote learning. These items would add comfort and flexible seating to keep the students engaged and comfortable in their learning environment.
