Envision having so much energy that it is impossible for you to stand still. How about being expected to participate in your learning while sitting for an extended length of time on the cold, hard chair. Many of us would struggle with these expectations as adults, let alone being 8 and 9 years old. With our long, cold winters, my students spend much of the four months inside at recess with limited space to burn off energy and very little fresh air. The photo included happens to be the view from our classroom window. This is what they see all winter long. With our shortened daylight hours, many students are loading the bus in the morning before the sun rises and return home in the afternoon after the sun sets. These supplies will help us create a positive and uplifting learning space that allows for movability and comfort within our classroom while supporting a variety of our learning styles.
