It is hard to motivate my students to be involved in physical activities because they are challenging for them. For that reason, my school wanted to create a reward-based program using fitness trackers to encourage our students to move more. With the assistance of our school’s comfort dog, we wanted to establish a dog walking program. The students would use their fitness trackers to reach an individual walking goal per day. If the students reached their walking goal, they would be rewarded with participating in one of their favorite activities (music, art, computers). There would also be a monthly goal with a larger reward, such as a pizza party. We believe that the visual support of the fitness tracker and the reward for achieving their goals will entice our students to move more. With your help, we can achieve our goal of improving our students’ overall health, well-being and involvement in school! Thank you!
