I would love for my students to have a listening center during our small group reading time. Students will go to the listening center to listen to books on CDs while they follow along with the story, both of which are included in this project. Having an organized system for the headphones and CD player will make transitions to and from this centera quick and painless. Giving the students lots of books to choose to listen to will allow student choice and for me to differentiate based on the unit we are working on in class, reading level and interest level. Students need access to great books and need to listen to fluent reading to improve their reading fluency. Also, reading in a small group inspires a love of reading in the classroom and gets students talking about books they have read and listened to.
