It can be very challenging for my students to understand how hard you are working out is measure by how fast your heart is beating, not how fast you are moving. Learning about heart rate and how to measure it will allow my students to create an individualized fitness program to meet their individual goals. The key to increasing participation and levels of activity is by making the content personalized and tangible. When my students get to choose their fitness activities the level of participation increases. The heart rate pulse bars are a quick and efficient means to allow my students to check their level of work and determine if they are meeting their individualized goals. I have seen how the use of pedometers has increased the level of participation in fitness activities and believe this will only encourage more participation.
