Only you can help our students read The One and Only Ivan! Students are participating in “one book one school”, a project that promotes engaging and challenging conversation through the discussion of a shared story. We need to purchase 18 copies of this book for all to participate. Reading exciting books promotes a love of reading, builds vocabulary, and encourages analytical thinking. Growing a child's vocabulary has immediate and lasting benefits. We chose The One and Only Ivan, by Katherine Applegate. This true story of a gorilla living in a cage housed in a mall inspires compassion and powerful discussion. We plan to read and discuss issues of kindness ,empathy and animal welfare.
