Research shows that children between the ages of 3-5 learn best through play and hands on experiences. The light table would enhance our learning environment and would help improve fine motor control through use of finger muscles. Before pre-k children can learn to write, they have to develop fine motor skills. The light table would also expose children to math, science, language arts and technology. I can just imagine the peer interactions around this table. Learning to work together, sharing, helping others, just to name a few. This classroom material would be available to all children throughout our work time which is typically 1.5 in the morning and an additional hour in the p.m. This project will help preschoolers develop the skills necessary for kindergarten readiness. Our pre-k program teaches independence and problem solving. The baskets and materials would help children sort material.
