My students are becoming great readers! They love to read books and listen to other people read them books. First grade is such an important year for these kids because they truly learn how to read. I want to be able to provide every possible opportunity I can to encourage my students to read. Reading takes us to wonderful places and different worlds; it allows us to be anyone and anywhere we want. I want my students to feel that magic of reading and to really enjoy what they are reading. My class would truly benefit from nonfiction leveled readers. I am requesting fiction and nonfiction leveled books to offer a wide variety of reading options in our classroom library. I have a leveled reading book program in my classroom that allows students to take books home to read each night. Nonfiction books are just as important for students to read as they are based on historical facts and off the ability to reach out to students who yearn to read subjects of a different variety. It gives them an opportunity to read real text on their level. They learn even more from what they read.
