We are requesting two microscopes that will give students first hand observations of the characteristics of different types of small-scale (trace) evidence. They'll be able to look at different soil types and their corresponding particle variations, which is a key factor in many real cases. They will use these microscopes to compare the hairs of different species, as well as be able to identify organic fibers from inorganic fibers. Whether these students pursue a career in forensic science or not, using these microscopes in class will help them practice their observational and critical thinking skills, both of which are important for any adult to have.

About my class
