My students will have the opportunity to sit and examine the specimens of different plants, identify the special features, write down the observations ( e.g how the plants are growing each week) and enjoy the beautiful garden. Learning about the plants will stretch across all academic and daily living areas. In math students will use measurement, In science and social studies student will learn about seasons, food groups, weather, life cycle of the plants etc. In the area of life skills students will learn how to take care of the plants and the garden on a regular basis to make sure the plants are healthy. They will also learn about different birds and insects that are helpful and frequent visitors in the garden. Some of my students with special needs have mobility issues and without stable seating it is hard to do activities in the garden. The Picnic Bench we will be able to provide a safe comfortable environment for students to engage in learning activities.
