I am requesting 6 new triple beam balances for my science lab. We have 80 plus students and just a few working balances. We learn to use the balance at the beginning of the year as we investigate properties of matter and continue to measure mass all throughout the year. My students love to use the triple beam balance but we do not have enough working balances per class to give the students ample time to practice measuring, and measuring mass and volume is a crucial skill they will need all throughout the rest of their science courses. My students are hungry for hands-on experiences. They come from lower income homes and many of them are not afforded "science, hands- on opportunities." Being able to use working, reliable equipment in the classroom is a must for my students. Good equipment helps keep my students interested. Thank you for considering my project.
