Sitting and attending in a classroom can be challenging! It is natural for students to need to move, but not always practical during some of our classroom learning times, such as during reading groups, or for mini lessons on the carpet. We have tried yoga balls, but the size of the balls does not always match the height of my students. Another teacher in my school has these chairs and was kind enough to let my students try them for a day. The students loved them! They were excited, attentive, happy and ready to learn! Allowing controlled movement with their bodies will help students mentally focus and attend to lessons. Improved attention and engagement during reading group time will help students experience more success which will build their confidence! Additionally, use of these chairs will help develop students’ core strength and promote proper posture. These chairs will have a positive impact on how many of my students learn. By providing some needed and controlled movement it will allow students to better focus on academic tasks in a comfortable learning environment.
