Students entering kindergarten come from many different experiences when it comes to learning. With such a wide array of learners, we need to meet the needs of all, especially in regards to technology. Most students are growing up in a world where technology is largely present. But many young learners need to touch and explore and learn through play in a tactile way. The Osmo Genius System will provide my students with a fun and educational technology experience, combined with physical play. We will use the included games, along with the Coding Activity and headphones to make learning fun! The Osmo is a one of a kind educational gaming accessory for the iPad. It turns a common technology tool into an endless possibility of physical play - exactly what kindergarten students need! The full kit allows children to explore science, math, art, and more. It comes with five incredibly fun games: Numbers (math), Tangram and Newton (problem-solving and logical thinking skills, perceptual reasoning, visual-spatial awareness, creativity), Words (early literacy skills), and Masterpiece (drawing - fine motor skills). All of these activities come with real life pieces that students will touch and manipulate on the table. What they produce in front of the iPad is picked up by the technology and transfered to the iPad for an amazing learning experience that is exciting and fun! We are also asking for the Osmo Coding game. The concept of coding is increasingly important in our world of evolving technology, and this game gives young learners real programming experiences. Students will place blocks together in sequential order to tell the characters on the screen how to travel through the game. How the students snap the blocks together will make the character walk, jump, grab, and travel through the games adventures!
