I would like to incorporate blending learning into my classroom via Amazon Fires. I teach a special needs language based classroom and would like my students to be able to use technology through a touch screen. Many students in my classroom have fine motor deficits and a touch screen would allow them more functional independence to complete tasks without needing teacher support. Newer technology also allows students a better transfer of skills into the home. Many of my students do not have desktop or laptop devices at home but do have access to smart phones. They would be able to access the same touch screen activities in school and at home. Repetition and practice of skills is extremely important in order for students to truly master skills. Many educational math websites have learning games that are better accessed through touch devices as opposed to a traditional mouse and keyboard. Understanding quantity and the structure of numbers is something many students with disabilities lack. This is the foundation of all math and without that foundation, students will continuously struggle.
