Rather than reading just one text, Night,(due to budget constraints), we will read, discuss, and analyze three varied texts (one of which will be the book we have, Night) in order to better understand our own humanity and how the power of language can bring us all together, broaden our perspectives and allow us to see outside of the confined walls of our own school. We will use these texts to engage in Socratic seminars, jigsaws, writing analysis, the study of rhetoric, and we will increase our understanding of the world around us while doing so. Students can work with a whole class text, but imagine the critical thinking that opens up when students have exposure to more texts.

About my class
