My students are unique, just like the individual colors in the rainbow, but when they come together, they make something rare and special. I teach a separate setting class in a rural area NC elementary school, grades K-5. Of the 8, 2 girls and 6 boys. Some of the students have behavioral challenges similar to autism; one is considered medically fragile. Intellectually they range from 6 month old age to 6 year old age. By using a color-coded system, the students are learning to associate their color with their name, their color with their space, etc. Last week was just the second week of school, but on Friday they were lining up on their color independently!
