In my current classroom, we have one computer in the back of the room and 33 children who have to take turns benefiting from it. I usually work in small groups and rotate throughout the room, so Chromebooks would allow my students guided and independent practice when I am not directly working with them. It will also allow them access to the variable resources our school has at its fingertips, that we are not truly able to benefit from such as I-ready, Moby Max, Think Central and various ELL websites. With Chromebooks, my students will be able to mirror the skill or strategy that we are practicing on to the projector whole group, on their own. They will also have access to data and information useful for the many research projects we complete throughout the year. My students will also have access to this new tool to present their own information as leaders of their own learning. They will be able to use various apps to apply and present their thought process to their peers. Taking ownership of their learning allows students to grow and learn from one another. The benefits are endless.
