To help my diverse learners develop self-regulation throughout the day and in order to grow, we need supplies to meet their needs. First, my squirmy students need a productive outlet for their energy when they take a break. In order to be reading to grow their brain in the classroom, these students need structured opportunities to meet their multi-sensory needs. This also applies to those times that my learners need to calm down and get back on track. The sensory swing will help with calming and providing a safe space when my students are in need. Also objects such as a peapod sensory chair, a rocker, and weighted lap pads will help with the support and pressure they need. To keep my squirmy learners engaged, they need tactile and multiple sensory approaches which the fidgets and sand will help. The sand will go a long way to create sensory bins. Giving these young learners the tools they need to regulate their mind and body during the day will lead them to greater growth in and out of the classroom! All of these materials will go to great use in my Pre-k through 8 building. These materials will help "wrangle our wiggles" and learn how to regulate ourselves to provide an optimal learning environment for all!
