Research has proven that people acquire language through reading. Reading provides repetition of high frequency words and introduction to grammar in context, so it is easier to remember and use in the future. There's a reason reading is emphasized so strongly in the elementary schools! The books I have selected have been created especially for Spanish language learners. They integrate words and phrases that are crucial for Spanish learners to know, within an engaging and relevant story. Students will pick up vocabulary and grammar implicitly, and research shows that language learned in context is more likely to be retained for future use!
