These materials will help foster a love of reading and provide students with a diverse choice of books. It will help students see themselves in the books that they are reading. In addition, it will provide them with a safe space to be their authentic selves. Some of these books will be read in groups while others will be choice book options. By having a variety of books it is more likely that kids will read and thus improve their reading levels. This affects all elements of their learning because they need to be able to read the materials provided for other classes. Lastly, students will gain empathy and compassion through reading.
