My students struggle. Making learning interesting and fun is very important to their learning. We have a high poverty rate in our district and many of our students don’t know where their next meal will come from when they are not in school and letting them forget (just for a little while) about their struggles is a side benefit of giving them fun and interesting activities to help with their education. Books that the students can identify with and games to keep them involved are important. These students don’t always put education first but educators must put these students first and keep them interested and involved.
