We want to relate chemistry with our students’ daily lives. We want them to be excited to come to class and learn. Therefore we are going to add cooking and real life examples in our chemistry stations. Students will rotate through stations that explain the "chemistry behind the scenes". Most students do not believe chemistry is relevant. We hope to smash this misconception. Without chemistry we would not be able to make yummy pancakes or breaking them down within our bodies. We hope to make chemistry more relevant so our students want to learn about this amazing science. With the griddle, we plan on making pancakes to discuss the chemical changes that occur to make this yummy breakfast delight. We will also discover why acetone is bad for fake nails.
