A flexible and welcoming classroom environment gives students the ability to explore learning at their own pace and allows them to take educational risks. The materials required to re-invent my classroom space will allow students to escape from other stresses and relax while simultaneously learning. This space will not only help students independently engage in the classroom but will also provide opportunities for collaboration which are essential to my EL students. By increasing student engagement, my students will be more likely to attend school, take safe risks and ultimately become more active members of our school community. My classroom space also serves as a location where student learning is individualized to each student's needs. Flexible seating choices, bulletin boards, and graphic novels will allow me to create individual learning experiences for so many of my students.
