My 7th graders are very eager and willing to learn. So far this year, we have powered through some very challenging short-stories, novels, and even several essays. My students love a challenge and so we are really wanting to incorporate something of high-interest and high-level thinking. Shakespeare's Star Wars is a great way to achieve both of my students' needs! Our students start reading Shakespeare sonnets and plays once they hit 8th grade and read one major play nearly every year. The biggest complaint that we've heard from students, parents, and teachers alike has been "the language is too hard". By incorporating a fun and familiar storyline with in-depth lessons on how to navigate the language of Shakespeare, I truly believe we can move these kids to a higher comprehension of this playwright's powerful words.
