Our students are young learners and are curious about the many things they encounter on a daily basis. During our recess time, students noticed a bird nest and wanted to see the baby birds in the nest. From there, we had the students draw pictures of birds, and we documented what they know about birds and what they wanted to know on chart paper. In order for our project to be a continued success, we need more hands-on materials for our students. The books about birds, bird and animal science kits and fish aquarium will help our students dive into more science activities. Project work has shown to increase vocabulary, spark student interest and reduce behavior problems in our classroom. It also has helped parents engage with their children by discussing the projects at home and interacting with their children and other students at school. We know exactly how we will use the materials we are requesting, but we need your help to get them to our classroom.
