I currently teach 5th and 6th grade Special Education students. I call my students my "Mountain Climbers". They all have their picture on a giant mountain mural in my classroom and we talk about moving to the top and what it takes to keep improving themselves. Many of them have had little success in school so I work hard at helping them achieve success while in my room. My students are a dynamic group who love to have flexible and comfortable seating and need high interest books and materials and lessons to stay engaged. Many come from backgrounds that most of us would struggle to even imagine. I'm working to create a safe and comfortable place here in which they can learn and ultimately achieve in school and beyond. We have received 2 project donations and I have never seen students so excited! The thank you cards they made were heart warming. I know they truly appreciate our donors!
