Children are the future of the world. It is important to teach children technology skills because that is where the future is headed. iPads would be great for my students because they would be able to have fun while becoming familiar with technology. Since these children are from disadvantaged neighborhoods, they may not get exposure to or interactions with this type of technological device. Learning with technology can be more meaningful and fun for these young minds, which means more retention of information. When learning on an iPad, students feel as though they are playing, but in reality they are learning about the subject at hand, how to maneuver through software, and developing a better understanding of the lessons because they are learning through play. Technology also helps students with peer collaboration. They begin to interact more with one another when they see that a peer is struggling to figure something out.
