This project will be geared toward the introduction of computer coding and robotics to our incoming fifth grade. According to my research, Fast Company reports that "seven million job openings in 2015 were in occupations that required coding skills, and programming jobs overall are growing 12% faster than the market average." If we are not teaching the skills they need, how can we expect our students to be successful. The Mindstorm Lego EV3's are a perfect way to introduce students to the ever growing demand for knowledge of coding and robotics. In the future a more specialized group of students that show interest might be able to participate in challenges at Clarkson University with some of our northern school districts such as Watertown Central School in New York.
