I want to create a space where students feel safe and welcomed. In my classroom, I want to have art and posters about history, liberation, racial justice, immigration, literature, gender, and ability for my high school history classroom next year. I will purchase books in history, fiction, sociology, young adult, political science, and ethnic studies to start a classroom library that reflects my students. This will be my first year teaching, so I do not have materials from previous years or funds to start a classroom library. At the end of the year, students will be producing an original research paper, and these books will be essential for completing their research.
