My third graders are awesome students who strive to learn in our rural school setting. We serve a population of students from middle to low income families, with a majority who do not have access to a wide range of literature at home. My students are avid readers of fiction, poetry, fairytales, science fiction, nonfiction texts, and biographies. They love reading a wide range of books, including online texts from our favorite websites, such as Epicbooks, Storyonline, and Readworks.org. Unfortunately, only one group of two students daily is able to access online websites to support their reading growth, fluency, and comprehension. We only have one desktop and a laptop available for student use. Also, even though our classroom library is stacked with a broad range of both fiction and nonfiction texts, many of our beloved books have aged over the years and are falling apart.
