Many of my students are reading below grade level. The books at their level are seen as 'little kid books'. I am trying to find high interest books that are lower level. Graphic novels are a great way to get students interested in reading (it is like reading a really big comic book)! Most of my students are English Language Learners which makes finding books at their level incredibly difficult. I do not want to discourage them while they are learning English. Using high interest books not only gets kids excited about reading but also excited about learning the English language.
