Many of our students are in after care, and they don't get to see their parents until late at night. They also do not have an access to basic computer technology, that will actually allow them to learn computer science. The Hour of Code is an introduction to computer science, where students get to have fun and enjoy a new learning experience. Computer science is changing every single industry on the planet, and every student should have the opportunity to learn how to create technology. Through the Family Activity Night we encourage parents to spend time with their child, while completing a challenging coding activity. Using the requested resources we will be able to create fliers to advertise the event to our school families. We will also create set of instructions and a survey, each will be color coded. We will use the post-its, pens and pencils during the event to take notes about the activities and students will leave the event with a certificate of completion the Hour of Code. Also we will have a light snack for the kids if they become hungry. We hope it will be a fun, family oriented and technology enriched evening for our school families.
