9th grade students are encouraged to produce an electronic portfolio to simplify the collection/storage of their individual projects for future use in college and career exploration. Students will use the iPads/technology to assess their career aptitude, research various careers based off the career aptitude results, and link those careers to possible college opportunities. In addition to the monthly college/career class lessons, students will meet in groups so I can provide them with “bonus” attention to develop the portfolio that truly reflects them in a favorable light to colleges, universities, internship/work and community service opportunities. The iPad/technology donation will allow students to use current technologies and for us to be mobile when completing the digital portfolio or taking notes and capturing photos during our college and career opportunities. Students’ collaboration, creative thinking, problem solving, decision creativity, ovation communications and collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving and decision making skills will strengthen. With the implementation and success of this technology resource, our students will be well on the path to becoming college and/or career ready. Through the use of interactive learning, students will be able to explore and demonstrate their understanding of what they are researching and give them just the right balance of group counseling and technology instruction.
