The students in my Applied Mathematical Concepts class are seniors who are eager to finish strong and graduate. Next semester, I want to give them a different kind of math class experience by including real-life projects, coding, and reading. The students in our county tend to have low reading levels, so our Director of Schools has literacy as a top priority! By including a math-themed young adult novel in our Applied Mathematical Concepts class, my students will be able to connect literacy with math. The novel that I have chosen, "The Math Olympian," offers an entertaining take on problem-solving and logic, and addresses many issues that student at this age face. Most of my students do not have the financial means to purchase the book on their own. Please consider helping us reach our goal of raising enough funds for a class set of the novel.
