Teaching a reading intervention class, students are uncomfortably sitting in a chair for a long period of time. Research has shown that flexible seating include burning more calories, using up excess energy, improving metabolism, increased motivation and engagement, creating a better oxygen flow to the brain, and improving core strength and overall posture. In order for my students to be successful, I want to provide options for my students to learn comfortably. I am starting my journey with flexible seating with a reading corner. I am asking for a futon because these students deserve to be comfortable in the place they spend most of their time.
