My students' interests vary from science fiction to sports and from superheroes to historical fiction. My classroom currently lacks a variety of independent reading books for my students to read during state test time, independent reading time, or when they complete their work early, and, with my school's ever-growing population, the school library has been converted into classrooms. In my teaching, I always strive to tailor my lessons to student interests, and I would like nothing more than to provide them with a classroom library that does the same. The books I have chosen for this project will reach a variety of interests. I am requesting the If I Stay collection for those interested in YA romance, Ready Player One for gamers, Bad Boy: A Memoir for those interested in nonfiction, and Travel Team for those interested in sports. Studies show that avid readers have improved vocabulary, writing abilities, and test scores. A classroom library is another tool to help get my students there.
