Most of the students who will be using these books have a learning or emotional disorder, such as dyslexia and/or AD/HD, just like the main characters of the book. These books are from one of the most popular book series for this age group and will help to entice students to actually read ahead and grow with the project. My students will be able to draw connections and see themselves in the shoes of these main characters. Not only do these books teach classical literature in a new fashion, but the characters go through the same growing experiences that my students do--bullies, friendship, growing, and experiencing life as a middle schooler. We will use these books over the course of the second semester to build reading skills in my RTI class. I am already planning projects, acting out scenes, timelines, and other fun activities for the students to do.
