Math is FUNdamental
In order for students to understand the concept of math, they must see it, feel it and conceptualize it in every way as it relates to math.
My goal is for students to be able to use manipulatives, work at computer stations and visualize daily. Math as it relates to their everyday lives while having fun. The current curriculum we use has daily activities aligned to the concepts taught in the Modules. Students can work with number lines to help them understand how to place fractions on the number line. The unicubes can be used for counting when they are sharing to help to see how to share. The majority of the concepts taught with their math require the think of 10 as their friendly number, they can use the base ten blocks to visualize 10 as the friend and how to make 10.
In my classroom in person and virtually, students engage in math in rotated groups. I would like to give them the tools they need to be able to visualize their math using hands-on manipulatives which will help them reach their math learning goals.
